Oral Surgery in Philadelphia, PA

At Kaminsky-Wolf Dental Associates, our Philadelphia practice provides a range of surgical and specialty dental procedures in a comfortable, highly personalized environment.

With periodontal and endodontic expertise available within our practice, we can evaluate complex dental concerns and coordinate the appropriate treatment without sending you from one office to another. From tooth extractions and wisdom teeth removal to bone and soft tissue grafting, our award-winning team combines advanced technology with careful planning and individualized attention.

Our top oral surgery services in Philadelphia include:

Sinus Lift

A sinus lift may be recommended when additional bone is needed in the upper jaw to support a dental implant. During this procedure, the sinus membrane is gently moved upward, and bone-grafting material is placed in the area to increase available bone.

Whether a sinus lift is appropriate depends on your anatomy, bone volume, and individual implant treatment plan. Our team will evaluate your needs and explain the procedure and alternatives before treatment.

Gum Surgery

Healthy gums provide the foundation for a healthy smile. When periodontal disease or other gum concerns cannot be adequately managed with nonsurgical treatment alone, gum surgery may be recommended.

Surgical periodontal treatment can address diseased tissue and improve the health of the tissues surrounding your teeth and implants. Our in-house periodontist provides specialized expertise for patients who require more advanced periodontal care.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy removes or modifies a frenum, the small fold of tissue that connects areas of the mouth such as the lips or tongue to surrounding tissues. In certain situations, an overly restrictive frenum can contribute to functional or dental concerns. A frenectomy can release this tissue when clinically appropriate and may be recommended as part of a broader treatment plan.

Tooth Extractions

Whenever possible, preserving your natural teeth is our preference. However, some teeth may be too damaged, decayed, fractured, or compromised to restore successfully.

When an extraction is necessary, our team plans the procedure carefully with your comfort and overall oral health in mind. We’ll also discuss tooth replacement options when appropriate, including dental implants and other restorative solutions.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are the final molars to develop and can sometimes cause problems when there isn’t enough room for them to erupt properly. Impacted or partially erupted wisdom teeth may contribute to infection, discomfort, damage to neighboring teeth, or other complications.

If wisdom teeth removal is recommended, our team will evaluate their position and your individual circumstances before discussing the appropriate treatment approach.

Root Canal Therapy

When the soft inner tissue of a tooth becomes inflamed or infected, root canal therapy may be necessary to save the natural tooth. During root canal treatment, the diseased or infected pulp is removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and disinfected, and the tooth is sealed. A dental crown may subsequently be recommended to restore and protect the tooth.

Because Kaminsky-Wolf Dental Associates has a licensed endodontist on staff, patients who require specialized root canal care can receive endodontic expertise within our practice.

Bone Grafting

Adequate bone is important for supporting dental implants. Tooth loss can lead to gradual loss of bone volume, sometimes making additional bone support necessary before implant placement. Bone grafting adds graft material to an area where additional bone is needed. Over time, the graft can provide a stronger foundation for future treatment.

Our team can evaluate your bone structure and determine whether grafting may be beneficial as part of your implant treatment plan.

Soft Tissue Grafting

Healthy gum tissue plays an important role in protecting your teeth and supporting your smile. When gum tissue has receded, or there is insufficient tissue in a particular area, a soft tissue graft may be recommended.

Soft tissue grafting can help improve the amount of protective gum tissue around a tooth or implant and, in appropriate cases, improve the appearance of areas affected by gum recession.

Specialty Expertise in One Practice

One of the advantages of choosing Kaminsky-Wolf Dental Associates is having multiple areas of dental expertise available in one location. Our practice includes general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, periodontics, and endodontics, with a licensed periodontist and endodontist on staff. This allows our team to collaborate when treatment involves multiple aspects of your oral health.
